Position Overview

The Vocational Training Specialist will deliver engaging, hands-on instruction to participants in our vocational certification programs — with a primary focus on teaching NCCER Core Construction Certification. The ideal candidate will also be flexible and willing to teach additional courses in Culinary Arts, Retail, and Hospitality as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach and facilitate NCCER Core Construction Certification classes, including classroom and hands-on training components.
  • Instruct additional vocational programs in Culinary Arts, Retail, and Hospitality as assigned.
  • Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and hands-on activities aligned with industry standards.
  • Provide individualized support, guidance, and coaching to students to ensure successful completion of coursework and certifications.
  • Administer and proctor certification exams (e.g., NCCER, ServSafe, retail and hospitality assessments).
  • Track and report student progress, attendance, and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with program staff and community partners to support job placement and on-the-job training opportunities.
  • Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that promotes confidence, skill-building, and career readiness.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in education, workforce development, construction, culinary arts, hospitality, or a related field preferred.
  • Teaching or workforce training experience preferred.
  • NCCER Instructor Certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire) required.
  • Ability to teach across multiple vocational areas (construction, culinary, retail, hospitality).
  • Strong communication, classroom management, and presentation skills.
  • Commitment to working with individuals with barriers to employment and helping them achieve long-term success.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, virtual learning tools).

Must be able to pass a level 2 background screening and a drug test.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
