This summer, students at Dr. Kiran C. Patel High School will mentor and lead a civics literacy program at the Wesley Chapel Library, designed to engage younger students through interactive, hands-on learning. Beginning June 6th and leading up to the 4th of July, the program will explore key moments in American history, including early America, the Declaration of Independence, and the U.S. Constitution, while also connecting these foundations to the role of citizens in America today. Students will participate in hands-on activities, group discussions, and interactive lessons that make civics engaging and accessible. The program will also highlight the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, encouraging participants to reflect on the nation’s history and their role in shaping its future. Mentored and led by high school students, the program aims to foster a deeper understanding of civic responsibility, inspire active participation, and help build a generation of informed and engaged citizens. The experience will conclude with a meaningful celebration on July 4th, honoring both America’s history and its future.
