SUMMARY:Putting the Urban in Suburban: Building & Connecting Pasco's Vibrant Places
DESCRIPTION:Join Leading Placemakers and Planners on a Visual Journey of Building and Connecting Great Places Worth Being In. Coinciding with National Bike Month\, guest speakers Karen Kress\, Director of Transportation and Planning with the Tampa Downtown Partnership\, Rodney Chatman\, Planning Division Manager with Forward Pinellas\, and representative from Newland Communities (TBD) for the Bexley project will share their respective efforts and projects to create places and link them together. The presentation will run about 45 minutes\, with 15-30 minutes of Q&A. Karen will focus on the Tampa Riverwalk\, Coast Bike Share System\, Downtowner Shuttle\, and Downtown Tampa Partnership Special District. Rodney will share work on the Pinellas Trail and making meaningful and accessible connections between places. Starkey Ranch/Bexley Representative will share their efforts at building vibrant places within the development project and connecting those places to the larger area and corridor beyond individual projects.\n\nThe event highlights the importance of quality placemaking and connecting those places   and that the fundamental principles of designing and building these places and connections are the same across both urban and suburban environments. The speakers will share how they were able to accomplish lasting physical change in their communities\, and the associated positive impacts to economic development\, mobility and quality of life.\n\nAfter the Q&A\, participants can literally get a 360-degree birds-eye view of the work in progress from 100   150 feet in the air aboard a hot air balloon. Participants can reserve tethered rides in rolling 10-minute timeslots between 5:00pm   7:00pm. During this time participants will also be able to experience first-hand the vibrancy of the NorthPointe project by walking from the event center to the International Beer Garten and restaurants for continued dialogue and professional networking. We will celebrate our successes and engage people across the development spectrum from public to private   planners\, builders\, investors\, citizens\, government leaders   sharing a little in common by getting our feet off the ground (whether by bike or hot air balloon).\n\nOnly the first 50 to reserve their time at the link below will be able to ride the hot air balloon.
